(46) trousers point

60 Great Short Walks Tasmania Australia - National Parks and World Heritage SitesSituated in Strzelecki National Park, the strangely named Trousers Point walk follows the coast from its start point at the end of Trousers Point Road and on to Fotheringate Beach about 2-km north. Trousers Point itself sits just outside the park boundary.

Trousers Point features amazing rust/red boulders and crystal clear waters, it is beautiful, pristine and definitely most unusual.
Along the way you will see some amazing rock features and will enjoy views of several offshore islands including Big Green Island and East Kangaroo Island.

The 1.9km walk takes approximately 1.5-hours return, although with a bit of sightseeing and photostops thrown in, you could easily exceed that time.

Because of adjacent cliffs and short rocky sections on this Level 2 track, care should be taken, especially on sections that can be slippery when wet. Children should be supervised at all times and all walkers are advised to stay on the track. Sun protection and clothing suited to the day should be worn. It is advisable to have a jersey or light jacket on hand in case of a sudden change in the weather.

Park entry frees DO APPLY. These can be paid at Service Tasmania in Whitemark.

NO pets, firearms or bicycles are allowed in the park.

Facilities:
Unpowered campsites, toilets, tank drinking water and gas BBQ’s can be found at Trousers Point and there are picnic tables at Fotheringate Beach.

Vehicle Access:
From Whitemark you travel 16km south towards Lady Barron on B85 taking the C806 (Trousers Point Road) to the start of the walk.
